The Wimbach river originates in the Wimbach Valley in Ramsau near Berchtesgaden, a high valley in the middle of the Berchtesgaden Alps. More precisely, the water of the Wimbach rises in the Wimbachgries, a debris flow of dolomite rock that has formed in the valley. The Wimbachklamm, a gorge carved out of the rock by the Wimbach, is a popular destination at the entrance to the valley. A great place to hike and photograph.
